Prof. Cosgarea is an Associate Professor at the Clinic for Periodontology, Operative and Preventive Dentistry at the University of Bonn (Germany) and is currently Dean of Studies for Dentistry at the Medical Faculty, University of Bonn.

Dr. Cosgarea has a vast clinical experience in the fields of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry of almost 20 years. In 2005, she graduated Dentistry at the University of Heidelberg, where she also obtained her Dr. med. dent. and, in 2009, completed her Specialisation in Periodontology (German Society of Periodontology-DG PARO). She was Assistant Professor and Research Fellow at the Section of Periodontology, University Clinic Heidelberg, Research Fellow at the Clinic of Periodontology, University Bern (Switzerland) and since 2013 Associate Professor at the Department of Periodontology, University Clinic Marburg (Germany). For several years she has also been Assistant Professor at the Clinic for Prosthodontics, University „Iuliu-Hatieganu“ Cluj-Napoca (Romania). In 2018, she was awarded the venia legendi at the Medical Faculty, University of Marburg.

Currently, Dr. Cosgarea is a board member of the German Society of Periodontology (DG PARO e.V.), as well as Secretary of the Project Committee of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) and Treasurer of the International Academy for Periodontology (IAP).

Her research focuses on antimicrobial periodontal therapy, regenerative and mucogingival periodontal surgery and the treatment of peri-implant infections. She has received several prizes of the Swiss and German Societies of Periodontology, NAgP, International Academy of Periodontology and from the University of Cluj-Napoca. In 2022, she was the winner of the EFP-Jaccard competition receiving the EFP-Jaccard prize.
